Euthanasia, a phenomenon that has been widespread for decades, and which has created great controversy all over the world, in this article we will try to define it and see it from every perspective ..
The definition of euthanasia
Euthanasia or a mercy bullet are all expressions of one thing: ending a sick torment that has not been cured, by painless medical methods. It is an end to the life of a sick person with an incurable disease.
Euthanasia is the contemporary scientific medical expression, as it means facilitating the death of a terminally ill person at the request of his physician.
The crux of the problem is to accelerate the end of a life inevitably doomed. It is “medically facilitated death for people who are hopeless to recover”.
Euthanasia is carried out in the following conditions :
• First case: Coma is in its fourth maximum degree, in which the patient is in a state of artificial respiration due to advanced coma with strong brain damage.
• The second case: incurable diseases that cause painful pain, such as cancer, especially when it spreads throughout the body.
• The third case: Chronic pneumonitis which prevents the patient from breathing except by machines (artificial respiration), to what are difficult and difficult cases that have no hope of a medical recovery.
The jurists of the monotheistic religions (Judaism, Christianity, and Islam) , settled on the understanding that killing anyone, whether the patient is terminally ill or elderly, unable to move or work, is not a legally available decision for the doctor, the patient’s family, or the patient himself.
Because a person’s life is a trust he must preserve, and he must protect his body and not throw himself into the decay.
All religious, ethical, legal, and medical principles emphasized the necessity of medication in order for a person to lead a good life, and obligated physicians to care for the patient and to make the end of their effort to care for him.
There are hundreds, thousands, and possibly millions, of patients who were terminally ill, and who lived dozens of years after they were dying.
From a legal point of view :
killing is the loss of the soul of a living person, even if a sick disease is difficult and hopeless for its recovery, as long as you have not yet come to the moment of his natural death, and any action that occurs on such a person, whether it is a positive act or failure to give treatment and is combined with the intent to cause death, Sufficient for intentional homicide.
It does not change from this ruling that the patient is satisfied with the occurrence of the act against him , because the consent of the victim has no value in the murder, nor does it change that the perpetrator is motivated by compassion , because there is no lesson in the law with the motives in terms of the existence of the crime itself.
For the supporters of the idea :
What the supporters of the idea of euthanasia rely on is the principle of the freedom of man to determine his fate and the right to dispose of his body however he wants, and that euthanasia would relieve the patient of his suffering and his pain, and it is like assisting suicide.
Likewise, they consider that the lives of some elderly and sick people are not equal or not and it is better for them to die, because the value of life is measured by the amount of human contribution, creativity and production.
As for me, I am against euthanasia for a number of reasons.
First, killing someone is nothing but murder even if the intention is to relieve pain and even if the person is permanently ill.
Since life is precious, it makes sense to consider euthanasia a mistake, because it intentionally accelerates death and killing, even by comparison, it will never be good.
Likewise, helping the patient to die or giving him a lethal injection kills is bury all basic human values and is not even understood to be related to the medical goal.
while emphasizing that patients who suffer often incurable diseases tend to cause depression, in which case they will not be able to Make rational and fateful decisions, does that mean killing them all just because of their requests?
